Motherhood has taught Drew Barrymore an important lesson about aging, and now she is working on passing that down to her daughters Olive, 6 and Frankie, 4.

In an interview with New Beauty , Drew opened up about changing her mindset when it comes to aging. "I just went through a couple of hard years, and I can see it wearing on my face," she says. "Theres also a very long period when youre raising kids when it takes it out of you. When it depletes your ability to take care of yourself because your new job is doing nothing but taking care of someone else and you love it."

The topic of aging, especially the term "anti-aging," has come under fire recently for the negative connotation."Im now determined more than ever to show my daughters that aging is a luxury," says says. "If were lucky, we are all going to age. I just want them to be at peace with who they are and not what they look like."

Skincare brands like RoC, Neutrogena, and L'Oral Paris have started swapping the term for more positive takes in an effort to fight rhetoric like "she looks great.... for her age."

This is not the first time Barrymore has opened up about the topic of age . On her birthday last month, the actress shared a gorgeous no makeup photo with the caption "44 and NEVER BETTER. Go shorty, its my birthday!."
