The song, written by Diane Warren, was featured in Chrissy Metz's film Breakthrough, the real-life story of a mother who turned to her Christian faith after her son fell through a frozen lake.
But apparently the Warren-Chrissy collaboration almost didn't come through. The songwriter gave a pre-show interview to E! News in which she revealed she initially didn't want Chrissy to perform the song, according to People . (FYI, this is Warren's 11th Oscar nominationand she's never won!)
Chrissy's been candid about struggling with her weight over the years:
I was blown away. I didnt want her originally for the song, I wanted a more established artist, I didnt realize she could sing, Warren said. She went in my studio, I said, Alright, Ill come back in a few hours. And when I heard her on the song, [I was just] blown away. Just totally blown away. She was amazing.
Needless to say Chrissy is pretty pumped about her performance. "Never in my wildest dreams did I think Id be singIng a Diane Warren song at the Oscars, the star previously told PEOPLE . This is so epic!
