When Michael Bolton was in a literal dog house. The singer's performances during season 11 were typically awkward and clunky, but his jive with partner Chelsie Hightower took an even weirder turn when he entered the ballroom crawling on his knees via a dog house. When Ryan Lochte took his clothes off. The Olympic swimmer and his partner, Cheryl Burke, went all out for their glow-in-the-dark salsa. Ryan even ripped off his shirt and pants, exposing black-light paint and shorts. The judges loved the commitment, but those shorts were a little short for prime time if you ask me. When Master P broke a 'DWTS' record. Master P joined the show in season 2 as a replacement for his son, Romeo, who dropped out due to an injury. When Sean Spicer was booed by the crowd. Sean Spicer wasn't holding back when he made his ballroom debut on this season of DWTS, rocking a neon green cha-cha shirt and bright white pants. When Metta World Peace fumbled his cha-cha. NBA star Metta World Peace's cha-cha performance during season 13 was lackluster, at best. There were awkward limbs, stiff steps, you name it. He and his partner, Peta Murgatroyd, were the first to be eliminated. Adam Taylor - Getty Images

When Lisa Vanderpump fainted. While filming rehearsals during season 16, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star fainted in the arms of her dance partner, Gleb Savchenko. Lisa was so sick that she missed out on dress rehearsals, but due to her fear of being eliminated if she didn't compete, Lisa took the stage for the live show. Not everyone believed Lisa's fall was real though. Her RHOBH costars accused her of faking the faint to get out of the show. ABC

When Kirstie Alley tumbled on stage. While nailing their routine for the rumba, both Kirstie and her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, suddenly fell to the ground. It was later revealed that Maks, out of nowhere, got a charley horse cramp in his leg, which caused the incident. Thankfully, they still received a great score, despite their incredibly awkward fumble. ABC

When Kate Gosselin couldn't get along with her partner. Kate and her partner Tony Dovolani had a lot to overcome in season 10. The professional dancer threatened to quit because of how difficult the mom of eight was to work with. You could tell in their routines just how bad their chemistry was. When Nancy Grace got the 'top heavy' feedback. During the season 13 premiere, Nancy Grace's costume caught some attention. When receiving comments from the judges, Tristan MacManus noted that things were a bit...top heavy...and suggest the star suffered a wardrobe malfunction. However, Nancy stuck to her guns and later refuted there was a mishap, "There may have been, as Tristan said, a little bit of jiggling, but there was absolutely not a wardrobe malfunction," Nancy told US Weekly . When Demi Moore and Bruce Willis didn't sit next to each other. While rooting for their daughter, Rumer Willis, at the premiere of season 20, fans were quick to notice the innate awkwardness between the divorced couple, with Demi sitting a row behind Bruce. ABC

When Geraldo Rivera dressed up as Trump. During the first week of season 22, the TV personality dressed up as Donald Trump and his partner, Edyta liwiska, looked very Melania-like. The move was controversial, to say the least. It also came off as awkward and forced. So, yeah, the pair was eliminated after the first week. An added bit of awkwardness? When Ryan Lochte protestors rushed the stage. As you can see in this photo, Ryan and his partner Cheryl were extremely uncomfortable when a group of protestors wearing "anti-Lochte" shirts began yelling in the studioand a few attempted to rush at the athlete. Tom Bergeron dutifully cut to commercial break. The protesters were upset about Ryan's fake robbery allegations during the Rio Olympics. ABC

When Sharna Burgess had a wardrobe malfunction. During a particularly intense tango with partner Antonio Brown, Sharna's black bustier began to slip down without her noticing. To her dismay, Tom Bergeron alerted her attention to it after they finished and the dancer laughed it off although she later revealed it was one of her more embarrassing moments on the show. When Mischa Barton didn't want to be on the show. It was far from smooth sailing for Mischa and her partner, Artem Chigvintsev, as the two never hit it off. The actress lasted three weeks, but from the very beginning it was clear to the audience that she didn't want to be on the show. "You're already in the zone of not wanting to do this," Artem told Mischa backstage during filming. After being eliminated, Mischa explained that she was happy to have been voted off and blamed everything from her partner to a lack of creative control with wardrobe to why the experience wasn't positive for her. When Marie Osmond collapsed. While receiving notes on her dance with partner Jonathan Roberts, Marie's breathing became noticeably heavier. The star collapsed onto the ground, leaving the audience and her costars unsure of what to do. The singer received medical attention, was cleared to continue, and eventually laughed the episode off. When Kirstie Alley lost her shoe. The actress suffered a second (oof) awkward mishap when her shoe accidentally fell off during a spin with partner Maksim. Despite the clunkiness of having to fix her footwear mid-dance, the team recovered and still earned a 22 out of 30 from the judges. ABC

When 'fart-gate' happened. It all started when Nancy Grace was being interviewed by co-host Brooke Burke and a low gargling noise was picked up by the mic. When Wendy Williams attempted the cha-cha. The talk show host and partner Tony Dovolani lasted well into season 12, but a painfully uncomfortable rendition of the cha-cha got them the boot. Throughout the dance, Wendy looked confused and had some truly bizarre facial expressions. To add insult to injury, Wendy accused the show of being scripted after she was eliminated. When Kim Kardashian's mambo fell flat. Despite having poor chemistry with her partner and a lack of confidence in dancing, Kim's most famous asset had a starring role in her mambo in season 7. In rehearsals, pro dancer Mark Ballas tried to show the reality star how to move her hips and rear, but to no avail. The most awkward part? The judges seemed amazed that the bombshell couldn't bring it on the dance floor with Tristan exclaiming, "Why you have what you've got and don't use it really frustrates me." When Peta Murgatroyd cancelled her first lesson with Nyle DiMarco. They may have won the Mirrorball Trophy, but it wasn't always smooth sailing for the partners. Deaf activist Nyle DiMarco revealed that his parter cancelled their first practice, because she was unsure of the best way to teach him. But things seemed to work themselves out and Nyle told Time that "I'm actually very visual. Whatever Peta does and shows me how to dance, Im able to pick up all those small, little details." When Emmitt Smith called out producers. The former football star made it known that he didn't appreciate his trash talk that was aired during his season of DWTS. Emmitt claimed that producers prompted him by asking whether he was intimidated by the male contestants and that when he responded they changed his sentiment in editing. When Maksim Chmerkovskiy had some 'personal issues.' Vanessa Lachey and her partner, Maksim, didn't get along during season 25. The issues were made much more apparent when Maksim skipped a week due to "personal issues." It was later speculated that his issues with Vanessa led to the hiatus. When The Hoff was blamed for being a diva. Kym Johnson and David Hasselhoff only made it to week 1 during season 11, but apparently that was all his partner needed. When Bristol Palin was on the show. Period. Things in the ballroomand across the countrywere tense during season 7. When Bristol and Mark Ballas made it into the final three, people complained that the show was rigged, as her scores didn't reflect her position in the competition. On the other side, supporters of Bristol were upset that she ONLY came in third and lost the trophy to actress Jennifer Grey. When Hope Solo spoke out about the 'secret memo.' Hope had a lot to say about her time on the showincluding her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. One of her biggest bombshells? An alleged secret memo that got sent out each week with who would be eliminated. When Julianne Hough joined as a judge. Apparently not everyone was happy when former pro dancer Julianne returned in season 18 as a judge. When Maksim Chmerkovskiy had his outburst. Maksim is known for being the "bad boy of the ballroom," but in season 13 the dancer took things too far. When Sabrina Bryan was suddenly eliminated. One of the more awkward elimination's took place in season 15 when front-runner Sabrina was axed in week six. The star, who was pegged to make it all the way, had received the highest score for her first performance, followed by a perfect 30 in week four. When #handgate happened. Sharna Burgess doesn't embarrass easily (remember her wardrobe malfunction?). But on season 24 that changed when her partner Bonner Bolton accidentally reached a little too far down her front while wrapping his arm around herand the whole thing was caught on camera. When it was revealed that Bill Nye the Science Guy (that's his full name, and don't you forget it!) would be on season 17, everyone braced themselves for awkwardness. When Witney Carson didn't know who her partner was. One of the most painful moments to watch in season 24 was comedian Chris Kattan trying to explain who he was to his dance partner. Witney had never see Saturday Night Live, so when the comedian kept naming specific skits he was in, his attempts fell flat.
