Will Julian Edelman Finally Shave His Beard Now That the Super Bowl Is Over?

Julian Edelman on Sunday caught ten passes for 141 yards to lead the New England Patriots to yet another Super Bowl victory, earning himself an MVP honor in the process.
The End of Edelman’s Beastly Beard-Or Is It?

But it was the wideouts beard that perhaps stood out the most during an otherwise exceedingly dull game, whose dullness was matched only by Maroon 5s languid halftime show.

The whiskers, which hes also grown for the Pats last two Super Bowl bids, are truly something to behold-the kind of beard you might grow if you were about to go mine for gold in 1850s California, or if you just opened a craft brewery in the Midwest.

So mighty was the force of his beard that it not only powered him to MVP status, but also disquieted NFL great Deion Sanders, who practically begged Edelman to shave the dang thing during an interview ahead of the big game.

I just cant see you with this beard, Neon Deion said on the NFL Network. This beard is doing something to me. Im sorry. Im just all-it dont look right, man.

Admittedly, the beard gets pretty nasty looking in the heat of the game, his outgrowth pouring out of the cage of his helmet. But it at least looked better in the post-game press conference, when it was at least washed and combed out.

Its unclear whether hes going to keep the bristles, but it seems likely that hell shave, just as he did last year after his Pats lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Asked by Sanders if hed shave it this year if the Pats won, he kinda sorta told him he would, replying simply, I gotchu.

Here are some shaving tips for when your beard's gone a little wild:

  1. In an attempt to tame that unruly beard before going full Edward Scissorhands on it, use a face scrub (like Kiehl's Facial Fuel Energizing Scrub ) to exfoliate your mug and prep it for a close shave.
  2. Before you say goodbye to those facial whiskers, give it a little love with a proper send-off of some nourishing beard oil to soften your skin follicles. Lab Series has a stellar option with sea buckthorn oil, jojoba oil, and sweet almond oil to hydrate your skin and help prep for a close precision shave.
  3. Your bathroom sink is about to look like you gave a hair trim to a savage animal, so it helps to put down some towels or even this helpful beard trimming mat .
  4. Grab your go-to manscaping tool and start trimming it down to not overwhelm your razor when you shave. It took time to grow this beard and will take an extra moment to chop it down.
  5. Use a top-notch shaving cream and get started on giving you face a clean sweep. Again, take your time, this isn't a race against the clock.
  6. After you get over the shock of seeing what your face looked like pre-beast beard, apply some aftershave and moisturize with a rich face lotion , and BAM, you're ready to go with a smooth face sans nicks and cuts.
