So you saw that Super Bowl ad, huh? No, we're not talking about Bill Murray's Groundhog Day return , or that super-sad Google clip ; we're talking about the most important one: the one teasing all the upcoming Disney+ MCU shows. And that includes The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which will see stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan return to their roles as the titular Falcon and Winter Soldier for the first time since Avengers: Endgame hit theaters a year ago.
The clip only includes a few brief moments, but it's more than enough to excite fans for what's to come. The show will supposedly be hitting Disney+ in August of this year.
Disney+ is one of the most exciting TV and movie ventures to hit the internet in a while, especially for Marvel fans. Not only does the subscription service offer access to work from Marvel Studios, but it will premiere new, original content that continues to follow characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The live-action TV series will focus on Sam Wilson/The Falcon (Men's Health July/August cover star Anthony Mackie ) and Bucky Barnes /The Winter Soldier (Men's Health January/February cover star Sebastian Stan ), who have appeared together in previous films like Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Infinity War. While the characters have previously clashed as Steve Rogers/Captain America's best friends, the duo are friendly now both on- and off-screen .
Even better: The actors confirmed that filming for the new series has begun , with recent set photos teasing some of the characters back in costume, including Helmut Zemo and Bucky himself in a new suit. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Here's everything we know about The Falcon and The Winter Soldier so far.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will premiere in August 2020.
In July 2019, Marvel chief Kevin Feige announced at San Diego Comic Con that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will premiere on Disney+ in "fall 2020," with Kari Skogland (The Handmaid's Tale) signed on to direct, according to Deadline . Some outlets have reported that the show will be a limited series or a miniseries, but Disney and Marvel haven't confirmed that.
Filming for the series started in November, and things seemed to be going well until production was forced to cancel a shoot after two earthquakes struck Puerto Rico. The show had been set to start location filming on the island, but it's unclear where the show will film instead. It was also believed that the filming cancellation would force Disney to push the series' premiere back, but the premiere date has been pushed up instead! As Deadline reports, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will premiere in August 2020.
There have also been a number of photos of Mackie and Stan on set, including photos Stan has shared himself.
Fans have been particularly excited about Bucky's new look :
So are we not going to talk about this parallel/nod to the original bucky costume?!?!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/gnbtbmfDWx jaylen (@starryjaylen)

The series will pick up after Avengers: Endgame.
Mackie and Stan appeared alongside Feige at Comic Con, and while the three were mostly joking around with the audience, they were clear that the show will follow Sam and Bucky in the aftermath of Endgame, where we said goodbye to Cap, but not before he officially handed off his shield to Sam . ( Bucky totally knew , it's fine.)
A recent set photo re-confirmed that the new series will take place post-blip, a.k.a the moment when everyone who disappeared after Thanos' infamous snap came back to life. The picture features a poster by a company called Samson Development, and they promise to help with "rebuilding after the blip."
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier cast will include new and old Marvel characters.
Not only will the show's titular characters be back, but Deadline has reported that Civil War's Baron Zemo (Daniel Brhl) and Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) will be back, too. Carter is also known as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Agent 13. Additionally, she's Peggy Carter 's great-niece, which is why no one understands why she and Captain America kissed during Civil War...but I digress.
One new character we can expect to see in The Falcon and Winter Soldier is John Walker/ U.S. Agent , played by Wyatt Russell.
Zemo looks like he's back as the villain...
Brhl took to Instagram to share the first glimpse of his character's return (and fans were quick to note how cool he looks in recent set photos), including the first photo of Zemo with a mask we've seen his character wear in the Marvel comics . We first met his character in the Civil War movie, where he went entirely unmasked as he worked to pit Cap and Tony Stark/Iron Man against each other by revealing Bucky's deadly past.
"'Longing, Rusted, Seventeen, Daybreak, Furnace, Nine, Benign, Homecoming, One, Freight Car.' Zemo is getting ready #SDCC @comic_con @marvel @marvelstudios ," Brhl wrote in his post.
