In her latest Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper aka dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee has multiple lipomas to remove from her patient's arm. According to the video, her patient is a professional pool player, and Dr. Lee has the perfect analogy for the lipomas once they're removed. The dermatologist thinks they look just like "nine balls."
Lipomas form under the skin with fatty cells clump together and continue to grown. They're typically benign and not painful but can be removed if they grow too quickly. Dr. Lee's patient has several in her arm, and the dermatologist begins the process of removing them by creating an incision over the top of the first growth.
Once the incision has been made, Dr. Lee takes her fingers and begins to squeeze the squishy lump out of the opening. Part of it emerges, but she has to go in with a pair of scissors to open up the space a bit more in order to free the lipoma. Eventually, though, she's able to pull the lipoma free with a pair of tweezers and snip it right out. According to Dr. Lee, this first lipoma looks just like a "nine ball."
