How old do I need to be?

All applicants need to be at least 21 years old before the start of the race that they're applying to be on.

What do I need to submit?

Per the CBS site , "Online applications are accepted year-round via this site, or you can attend one of the listed open calls."

If you go to an open call , all you need to bring is an ID.

If you apply online, you and your partner need to fill out an application with your name, address, cell phone, as well as information about your appearance, occupation, and relationship status. You'll also need to submit a picture of yourself along with a 3-minute video.

The video should showcase your personality and relationship with your teammate, and it should include some kind of interesting tidbits about yourself and your partner, like the skills that you have that would make you great for show, or an intriguing fact about your hometown and how that's impacted you.

Who can I choose as my partner?

A strong relationship with your partner is going to read well on the screen, so picking your neighbor that you only see twice a month or a co-worker that you barely know probably isn't the best bet.

I don't have a passport, is that a problem?

As the show is based on traveling, all applicants need to be U.S. citizens with a valid U.S. passport and U.S. drivers license.

Can I submit multiple applications?

You can apply for as many seasons as you like, but you'll need to send a new application each time. You're also allowed to apply more than once for one season, but it'll need to be with different teammates.

What do I do about work/school/my responsibilities?

The CBS site states: DO NOT APPLY IF YOU CAN NOT TAKE OFF WORK TO FILM THE SHOW! The all caps and bold font let you know that they're serious.

When will I hear back?

If you're selected as a semi-finalist you'll get an e-mail from the show telling you what to do next. If you're not selected, you won't hear anything (sorry).

Any tips for me?

Lynne Spillman has casted for Survivor and The Amazing Race for about 20 years, and she once gave some advice the casting website Reality Wanted . Her top tips include:

• In your video, don't use costumes, hand puppets, or too many special effects, etc. We want to get to know you and find out who you are. I like to see clips of applicants at work, at home with their significant others, doing their favorite hobby.
• Applicants should know is that The Amazing Race is a relationship show. I also want people to tell us what they will bring to the show and why they would be good on the show. Too many applicants tell us they know they will win but to be honest I don't care if you win. I want good stories, it makes good TV.
• Send in recent clear pictures, there is nothing more depressing than having someone come in for an in person audition and realize the picture they sent us is five years old or when they sent it in they had blond hair and now they have black hair.

• The written applications are so important, they tell me so much about the applicant. Don't over think the application or fill it out too quickly.
• If you are going to show up to an open casting call, fill out the application before you come to the audition. There is so much going on during the open call you wont be able to fill it out like you can when you have time at home.
• When you come to an open casting call be yourself, don't come dressed up in a goody costume, it may get you on the local news but not on The Amazing Race.
