The breath-taking entries of the Travel Photographer of the Year 2016 (TPOTY) competition have been revealed.

Published on Daily Mail, the pictures were taken by photographers hailing from 20 countries including India, the US and China in categories spanning cities and architecture, people and culture, wildlife and nature.

However, a stunning picture by self-taught 14-year-old photographer Darpan Basak was named Young Travel Photographer of the year for his vibrant depiction of the excitement of fishing in India.

Judges commended his storytelling prowess. Daily Mail reported.

Ruiyuan Chen’s powerful portraits of ethnic Yi people from China’s Daliang mountains, took home the prize for the Mankind category.

Portuguese photographer Joel Santos took the crown as overall Travel Photographer of the Year for his picture of an Ashanti fisherman was taken on Lake Bosumtwi, Ashanti, Ghana.
