For us Nigerians, mosquito bites on a daily basis has quickly become a norm, no matter where you are.
What makes it worse is the weather that brings them, like rainy season where there's more stagnant water and such, not to talk of the humidity.
The itching isn’t even the worst part of it, it’s the scaring and redness that is left behind when they finally start to go away.
Giant welts and scabs are not cute.
After some research, we found remedies to treat mosquito bites.
The best part is, you probably already have these ingredients in your cabinet!
Lemons
Grab a lemon from your fridge and cut a slice off and apply it directly to the effected area. Lemons contain natural anti-inflammatory and anesthetic properties that make them very useful in treating mosquito bites.
Baking Soda
Take a glass of water and dissolve one teaspoon of baking soda. Take a clean cloth and dip it into the mixture. Leave it on the bite for 10-20 minutes. Wash it off with warm water
Banana Peels
After eating a banana take the peel and rub it on the bite and that’s it! Viola! Your mosquito bite is gone.
Aspirin
No need to go to the store and buy an itching cream! Take an Aspirin, crush it up and add enough water so it turns into a paste. You just made your self an anti-itch lotion!
Table Salt
Moisten the effected area and add some table salt. The salt will dry out the bite and keep it from getting infected.
