Bath wing Semesa Rokoduguni has been added to England's Six Nations squad as head coach Eddie Jones awaits final confirmation of whether Chris Ashton will be unavailable for the tournament.

Ashton received a 10-week ban on Wednesday after an independent judicial officer found the Saracens flyer guilty of making contact with the eyes of Ulster's Luke Marshall in a European Champions Cup fixture.

However, Ashton was given the option of appealing the sanction, meaning he could yet see his suspension reduced or even overturned.

A tweet from England Rugby on Sunday read: ".@rocco3225 [Rokoduguni] will join the England squad this week while @ChrisAshton1 awaits the conclusion of his disciplinary case."

The Fijian-born Rokoduguni, who signed a new deal at Bath earlier this week, earned his solitary cap to date in a 2014 home fixture against New Zealand.

In starting that fixture, he became the first serving soldier to represent England since Tim Rodber made his final international appearance in 1999.

England begin their Six Nations campaign against Scotland at Murrayfield on February 6.
