Man shocks girlfriend when he proposes using a cow

A farmer proposed to his girlfriend of three years by writing will you marry me on the side of her favourite cow.

Chris Gospel enlisted the help of their cow Curlytop, to propose to his microbiologist girlfriend, Eilidh Fraser.

He used a livestock marker on Curlytop when he popped the question.

Message

Mr Gospel 30, scrawled the message on the cow and took Eilidh out to see her.

'She is around the cows most nights so I managed to write the proposal, and then said we should go down and see her after she got back from work.

'Curlytop came up to us and Eilidh said 'what have you done?'

'Eilidh turned round and I went down on one knee - and she said yes.'

Favourite

Curlytop is the bride-to-be's favourite cow from the livestock line up as she has an 'affectionate temperament'.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, Mr Gospel said when they pick a wedding venue they would have to check the animal policy if planning to feature Curlytop again.
