57-year-old Ian Squire had performed the popular gospel song, Amazing Grace on his Guitar to entertain him and his colleague captives and give them hope, but according to Dr. Donovan, one of the four who were then in captivity, Ian got shot just after the refreshing performance.
“It was the perfect song, and at that point things began to look not quite as bad.
“But after Ian finished playing, he stood up, and a salvo of gunshots killed him. It was terrifying,” Dr. Donovan narrated.
According to thesun.co.uk, the three missionaries who were kidnapped in Nigeria included ex-GP David Donovan, wife Shirley, both 57, and Specsavers worker Alanna Carson, 24.

Dr. Donovan added that after killing their colleague, “We jumped out of the shack and into the water because we thought they were coming for us next but a gang member came and put us back in there with Ian.”
He said their “blood run cold” when the kidnappers even threaten to sell them off to Boko Haram militants.
However, fortunately, the three other captives except Ian were discharged by their captors subsequently.
