The suspects are to re-appear on February 4, 2019 for further hearing.

Myjoyonline.com reported the Ashanti Regional Police PRO, Godwin Ahianyo as saying that the four suspects were picked up after a journalist in the region sent the footage of the incident to the police.

“We instructed the Akumadan District Commander to follow up on the issue and four of them have been arrested and put before court,” ASP Ahianyo said.

Although the victims claimed their oppressors were about ten, the police have been able to arrest only four so far, and charged them with assault and offensive conduct.

Some social media reports suggest that the students had stolen the fowl out of hunger, but before they could prepare it for food, they were nabbed.

Instead of probably handing them over to the police or the authorities of the Akumadan Senior High whose confinement they escaped from to commit the act, the suspects, including the community police officer took the law into their own hands.

Meanwhile, the police are still on the manhunt for the other accomplices.
