The Kenya Police Service (KPS) has apprehended a university student, Abdulkarim Njoroge, who murdered his girlfriend, Irene Kananu and hit her body in the freezer.

This is following the latter's decision to end their relationship after discovering that the suspect impregnated another woman.

The murder occurred in his residence located in the Mtwapa area of Mombasa where Njoroge reportedly strangled the deceased.

According to reports, an intense argument had led to the killing of Kananu who was declared missing by the police on Friday, March 31, 2017.

Njoroge's fling is reportedly a neighbour who lives in the same block with him.

After the murder, the suspect made a withdrawal of Sh40,000 from the victim's M-Pesa account and proceeded to stealing her car.
