A male teacher at William Paca Elementary School, Landover, has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 9-year-old student.
Erwin Magnay, a 39-year-old science and math instructor, is accused of committing the crime inside a classroom and was arrested on Tuesday, May 5, by officers of George's County Police.
He is has been charged with sex abuse of a minor, second-degree assault and several sex offenses.
According to court documents, Magnay had several inappropriate encounters with the boy between last September 2014 and January 2015.
Police say the victim's mother reported the case in February leading to the arrest of the teacher.
The child said Magnaye kissed him and touched him on several occasions while they were alone in a classroom.
Magnaye has been placed on administrative leave by the school and is currently in police custody.
