According to the Altoona Mirror, Dr. Liang Bartkowiak says ever since it became public that she is eligible to certify medical marijuana users, her office phone line has been busy on daily basis.

She told the Altoona Mirror that she is an OB-GYN (Obstetric and gynecologist) whose specialty makes her treat only women, and is not in a position to help the men seeking her service.

In 2016, a state law was passed allowing people under a doctor’s care access to medical marijuana if they suffer from an illness on a list of 17 qualifying conditions.

It stipulates that doctors must certify the illness and patients must obtain an identification card from the Health Department to enable them access medical marijuana.
