The 2016 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akuffo Addo has urged prospective voters to fully participate in the upcoming voters’ register exhibition to ensure the party’s victory in the general elections.
The exhibition of the voters’ register will begin on Monday, July 18 to Sunday, August 7. This is to offer prospective voters the chance to check whether their voting details on the register are correct and their fingerprint verified to avoid any inconvenience during the general elections.
Addressing party supporters in the Ashanti Region, Nana Addo urged all to partake in the exercise.
“The Electoral Commission will from next week Monday open the voter register for eligible voters to confirm whether their names have been duly captured. As a matter of fact I urge all of you to take part in the process so that the necessary changes will be effected before the election. If you do not do that you will not be allowed to vote on the day election so I will appeal that you make sure you corporate with the process.”
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has announced that it has instituted a multi-platform Voter Support Centre that will be opened at the Commission’s Head Office to respond to all exhibition and election related questions and inquiries.
According to the commission, the Voter Support Centre is one of the many innovative strategies it is implementing to enhance communications and engagement with registered voters for free and credible elections.
In a statement, the EC said “The Provisional Voters' Register has been printed and distributed to all our District Offices across the country, ready for deployment.”
It said “29,000 Biometric Veeification Devices with buckups are also ready in all our offices for deployment to all polling/exhibition centres. All other supporting materials have also been distributed and ready to be deployed. All exhibition officers have been fully trained and ready to do quality job for the next 21days across the country.”
The EC added that “senior officials of the Commission will be visible on the field to monitor the exercise to ensure everything is working smoothly. All unforeseen issues will be resolved speedily.”
