Cristiano Ronaldos hat-trick propelled Real Madrid to a comfortable 3-0 victory against Atletico Madrid in the all Madrid derby on Tuesday.

Real were utterly dominant throughout the game against their city rivals at the Bernabeu and led after 10 minutes when the Portuguese skipper nodded home from Casemiro cross in the first half of the game.

Real Madrid after the interval added two more goal from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Karim Benzema set up Ronaldo who volleyed the ball to beat Oblak in post, before Vazquez who came on for the Frenchman put Ronaldo through to put the icing on the cake with the third.

Atletico Madrid were a pale shadow of themselves as they lacked cutting edge upfront and were not able to map up the best defensive strategy against the Los Blancos.

Atletico Madrid who started their European football campaign in the 1958-59 season had not conceded three goals from a single player until Wednesday, so Cristiano Ronaldo set a new European record by becoming the first player to do so.
