Good memories hardly fade away. It makes perfect sense then, why new couples are always crazy about their honeymoon experiences.

A Japanese man has been wearing the very polo shirt he wore during the honeymoon with his late wife for 20 good years, ostensibly to keep the fond memories of their marriage.

This was just recently discovered by his hitherto ignorant daughter, Ria.

The 24-year-old Tweeter user shared the tear-jerking, but understandable discovery online by posting photos of her dad wearing an old polo t-shirt which had been worn-out due to two decades of use.

The young woman had been in the dark about her father’s mysterious love for the old shirt until she found it necessary to tidy-up her grandfather's place after his death.

She then found a delightful photo of her parents’ honeymoon in which her father was in the same shirt she had grown up watching him wear.

It was only at that point that the reality dawned on her that, the grieving father had been keeping the shirt as a precious reminder of her mother who had died 18 years earlier.

According to Ria, when she shared her experience of Twitter, she saw two old pictures of a young couple wearing matching t-shirts, and another picture of her approximately 60-year-old father wearing the same polo shirt.

She said “I wondered why he kept on wearing that old polo shirt.”

Ria further wondered, “why didn't he just buy a new one? I never imagined that the polo shirt would contain such a special memory for him.”

She made further revelations about how her father managed to keep the pet polo shirt for the 20 long years.

She said “even if there was a hole, he would sew it by hand himself.”

“He wears it for any special occasion, be it a work study event or a trip out with the family.”

The story of Ria’s father who never married since the death of the late wife got several people so surprised and emotionally touched that, some of them admittedly could not control their tears.

Ria herself did not expect the kind of reactions that greeted her confession, saying” I am surprised by everyone's reaction as my first tweet was about a disgusting father who continues to wear the same clothes forever.”
