Police in the Eastern Region have launched a manhunt for a 24-year old farmer for allegedly chopping off his girlfriend’s hand.
He accused the victim, known as Patience Tei, of infidelity and absconded after committing the crime.
Multiple media reports say the victim was in church when she stepped out to receive a call.
Her boyfriend emerged from a nearby bush, assaulted her and hacked off her hand.
Police have declared him wanted, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, has said.
“We have declared him [Tei] wanted now. And the reason being that he severed the left hand of his girlfriend, one Patience Tei, at a Village called Aponoapono near Suhum,” he said.
He also explained that the incident happen on Saturday June 10, adding that the suspected bolted after committing the heinous crime.
He further said the victim is responding to treatment.
