Christian Atsu was elated to see his side Newcastle United book a place in next seasons English Premier League, so much so that he celebrated it by going almost naked.

The 24-year-old scored to restore Newcastle's lead when they defeated Preston North End 4-1 on Monday.

In the 45th minute, Newcastle broke at pace with Isaac Hayden and his ball to Mitrovic was in turn rolled into the path of Atsu who tucked home from close range.

The win secured Rafael Benitez’ side promotion back to the English topflight and an emotional Atsu - on loan from Chelsea  - took off his clothes, leaving just his underwear to celebrate the achievement.

Newcastle United are in 2nd place of the EFL Championship with 88 points, trailing league leaders Brighton & Hove Albion by four points. Although the title chase has become a difficult task for the Magpies, they can console themselves with securing an automatic Premier League berth with two games to spare.
