Black Stars open camping in Kumasi

The Black Stars opened camping on Monday in Kumasi ahead of their crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against  Congo on Friday.

11 of the 13 players who were expected in camp on day one training were present and the head coach of the team James Kwesi Appiah supervised a recovery training session at Golden Tulip where they will be residing as they prepare for the clash.

Sannie Daara, the communications director of teh Black Stars had earlier announced the itinerary of the team.

“The Black Stars will start their training today at 3:30pm ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Congo," Sannie Daara tols the press.

“Unlike the previous times the squad will camp in Accra before heading for Kumasi where the match will be played. The team will be moving straight to Kumasi on Monday morning from Accra.

“11 players arrived last night, some of the players who have arrived are Lawrence Ati Zigi, Richard Ofori, Ebenezer Ofori, Christian Atsu, Daniel Amartey, Thomas Agyepong, Nicholas Opoku, Edwin Gyasi, Asamoah Gyan, John Boye, Kwadwo Poku. They will be joined by home based players Gideon Waja and Joseph Addo. So that makes it 13 players on the first day of  training.”

The referee is expected arrive in the country on Tuesday, but the opponents of the Black Stars, the Red Devils of Congo are yet to communicate their travel itinerary to the Ghana Football Association.

Ghana will face Congo Brazzaville on Friday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi, before they travel to Brazzaville on 5th September for the return game.
