Parliament passes appropriation bill to allow government spend GHS64 billion

The approval followed a highly diverged debate on the schedules and budgetary estimates allocated to the various sectors of the economy and the schedules listed under the appropriation bill.

Parliament on Friday passed the appropriation bill to allow the Akufo-Addo administration spend GHS64 billion from the consolidated fund to carry out its financial obligations for the year.

The government would have been shutdown from today if the bill had not been passed because it will not have money to spend.

Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta said the government will work to revive the economy and put it in good shape.

"RT. Hon Speaker, I will like to conclude that as if have indicated in the budget, our policy orientation as we've mentioned before is one that is guided by the preferential option for the poor even as we move the private agenda forward," he said.
