The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has congratulated the Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings following her endorsement as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP).

In his congratulatory message posted on his Facebook page, Nana Addo welcomed the former First Lady into the fold of flagbearers seeking to contest the November elections.

“I congratulate warmly Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings on her election, on Saturday, April 30, 2016, as the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP) for the 2016 elections.”

According to him, Mrs Rawlings’ “wealth of experience in Ghanaian politics should put her in good stead to help steer and shape the nature of our political discourse from one of attrition, personality attacks and negative preoccupations to an issues-based campaign, hinged on the competition of policies and ideas.”

“That is how the public interest of our nation can be best served. The New Patriotic Party and I welcome her into the race for the Presidency and wish her well. God bless our democracy, God bless Ghana,” he added.

Mrs. Rawlings was endorsed by the delegates of the party at the Trade Fair Center in Accra on Saturday.

Her husband and founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Rawlings, were present to support her at the congress.
