The Deputy Minister for Minister of Regional Reorganisation and Development, Martin Agyei-Mensah Korsah, has called for the arrest of protestors preventing the Municipal Chief Executive of Savelugu, Hajia Ayieshatu Seidu, from working.
On Thursday, they clashed with the police when they stormed the municipal assembly to force Mrs Seidu out of office.

Speaking on Accra-based Okay FM Friday, Mr Korsah said the president does not need clearance from the youth in the area to appoint an MCE.
He called on the securities agencies to arrest anyone who is bent on causing trouble in the area.
He said: “The president does not need their clearance to determine who the MCE for the area becomes.
“He has the constitutional right to determine who is best fit for the job and no one must argue with him. What I think should be done is that the security agencies must rise up and arrest anyone who is seen obstructing the MCE from performing her official duties.
“We are a country governed by laws and the laws should not be working on political lines.”
Mr Korsah also said it was normal for party activists to feel aggrieved over certain appointments of the president. He, however, noted that the violent protest against the president’s choice is hurting the image of the New Patriotic Party.

“It is normal for people who work for the party but feel let down to be aggrieved but is within the purview of the president to determine who to choose as MCE or otherwise without clearance from them. If they are indeed NPP members then it is not good for the image of the party. The president does not need the clearance of Savelugu youth to appoint MCE for the area. If the person is not qualified the point is to stop him/her during the confirmation. They had every right to campaign against her prior to the confirmation”, he asserted.
