We must fight terrorism - Italian Prime Minister

The Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi has charged Ghanaians to be concerned in finding an antidote to the many atrocities perpetrated by terrorists which he described as a global threat.

According to him, one of the devices of terror groups is to disintegrate societies by making them live in fear thus, he admonished Ghana to overcome the atmosphere of fear brought on by terror groups.

Addressing Parliamentarians on Tuesday, 2 February, 2016, in Accra, Matteo Renzi said "Terrorism aims at disintegrating the society. They try to kill us and force us to live in fear. We must refuse this message and together, in the name of culture, ideas and democracy fight against this terrible message and work together in unity because the future is for us, our children and grandchildren."

He said "Italy is strongly committed to supporting peace and security in Africa."

"I deeply believe the democracy, culture and the defense of the individual rights are the last form of resistance against violence," he added.

He has also has praised Ghana for her stable and enduring democracy.
