Lionel Messi and his fathers 21-month jail sentence over tax fraud has been upheld by the Spanish Supreme Court.
However, as Spanish law denotes that an sentence under two years can be served as probation, Messi is unlikely to spend any time in jail.

The five times FIFA Footballer was found guilty in July 2016 on three counts of tax fraud between 2007 and 20009 and was as a resulted sentenced to 21-month jail term and slapped with a fine of €2million (£1.75m).

Jorge Messi, the father of Lionel was also found guilty of the same offence and handed the same sentence, but was ordered to pay €1.5m (£1.3m).

While the appeal was rejected, Jorge Messis's sentence was reduced from 21 months to 15 months after his son returned the money due to the tax man.
