Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has charged all the brilliant brains with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to speak up and defend the party.
According to him, due to their silent posturing, persons such as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia “end up looking like super stars.”
He said it is unfortunate that the whole NDC party has been impressed with Finance Minister Seth Terkper’s response to Dr. Bawumia because “it is all within the same neoliberal framework. It doesn’t get us out of the neo-liberal framework.”
Speaking on Radio Gold over the weekend, Mr. Pratt Jnr noted that “there are brilliant people in the National Democratic Congress, very brilliant people…but the problem is that in that party, they are not making any impact.”
He indicated that the ideas of these brilliant persons “are not finding expression on any platform, the problem is they are there behaving like the NPP.”
His recommendation was that in order for the progressive elements in the NDC to make a difference, they would have to build a common platform of progressive people and work within the NDC to change things.
“The progressive people in NDC have to learn some of these lessons otherwise they will remain mere passengers; they will remain mere passengers in that party and they will not impact anything and they will make it possible for people like Dr. Bawumia to sound like super stars,” he fumed.
The veteran journalist stated that “Dr Bawumia is sounding the way he is sounding because there is no credible response from the NDC.”
He however charged the electorate to take a step back to analyse with common sense, all what the various political parties will present them in the lead up to the elections.
“It is only through that that the true picture will emerge,” he added.
