Hearts of Oak beat Kotoko to reach G8 final

Accra Hearts of Oak defeated Kumasi Asante Kotoko 2-4 on penalties after the 90 minutes had ended goalless to reach the final of the G8 tournament on Wednesday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.

The two sides battled out without finding the back of the net in both the first and second halves of the game.

The referee ushered the two sides into penalty shootout after the 90 minutes and two additional added minutes had ended goalless.

Malik Akowuah was the player who scored the final penalty to send the Phobians to the final of the competition.

Jackson Owusu and Eric Donkor failed to score their penalties for Asante Kotoko and it enabled Hearts of Oak who missed just one of the spot kicks to sail through.
