A 33-year-old British woman, Laura Plummer from Hull has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by a court in Egypt’s Red Sea region, after

Africafeeds.com reported that Tramadol is listed by Egyptian authorities as an illegal drug due to its wide use as a heroin substitute.

Though Laura Plummer pleaded innocence, saying she had brought the drugs for her partner who she claimed was suffering from a chronic back pain, the court did not take her plea.

She was sentenced on December 26, but her conviction is open to appeal
