Three players whose hairstyles match their robust play on the pitch

They love their flashy cars and extravagant clothes, but their hairstyles equally hold much importance, as it sometimes defines who they are.

While some prefer to go with dreadlocks, others would rather have simple haircuts. But there are also those who have the weird haircuts, and are most often the centre of attention among their team-mates.

The disadvantage of this is that a player with blonde hair is more likely to be identified when things go wrong than one with a simple haircut. The reason is simple; weird haircuts are bound to attract attention.

Pulse Sports has compiled a list of football players who have eye-catching hairstyles to match their robust styles of play.

El Hadji Diouf

Former Senegalese striker Diouf was one player whose haircut was really eye-catching. The 36-year-old always favoured the blonde hair, and sometimes chose to go completely bald.

But the large part of his career was shrouded in controversy. Having had notable stints with Liverpool, BlackburnRovers and Sunderland, Diouf still managed not to live up to expectations.

In 2003, Diouf was charged with assault and fined for spitting at a Celtic fan during a UEFA Cup game.

Mario Balotelli

The Italy international was once the brightest prospect of his country. However, despite all his talents, Balotelli currently finds himself playing for OGC Nice in the French Ligue 1.

The 26-year-old was declared an outcast by both Liverpool and Manchester City as a result of his uninspiring character on the pitch. Balotelli is noted for losing his head in crucial moments, and normally attracts unnecessary suspensions.

Balotelli is also not new to having controversial haircuts. From the blonde hairs to the Mohawk style, he has been seen with different hair styles over the years that truly denote his style on the field.

Raul Meireles

The former Liverpool, Chelsea and Porto midfielder has carved a name for himself as a robust man in the middle of the park. However, another thing that defines him is his haircut and love for tattoos.

Raul Meireles is a midfielder from the old school, and loves to put his leg on the line when going in for a tackle. That only means that picking up cards are a part of his play.

With his tattoos and hairstyle it is not difficult for one to predict his approach to games.
