Michael Essien has paid respect to his teammate after his contract with the Indonesian outfit was terminated for poor performance.

Carlton Cole who joined the club with the hopes of rediscovering his goal scoring boot, struggled throughout his stay in Indonesia and failed to score a goal.

Umuh Muchtar the head coach of Persib Bandung broke the news to terminate the contract of the 33-year-old striker on Tuesday over performance.

He said: “It’s the management’s decision to dismiss him, we will have a new player in the second round of the season.

“He plays very badly compared to the other (foreign players) who have joined Persib. He had the worst performance.”
