The Military High Command of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has said it has launched investigations into the conduct of some personnel said to have provided security for businessman Ibrahim Mahama.

A release signed by GAF’s Director of Public Relations Aggrey-Quashie said no soldier has been assigned to the president’s brother.

Some pictures making the rounds on social media shows Ibrahim Mahama in the escort of some supposed military personnel around an event in Accra New Town over weekend dubbed, ‘Walk with Ibrahim’.

Many have since accused President John Mahama of abusing his incumbency following the development.

But the Ghana Armed Forces has insisted that “it has not assigned any soldier to Mr Mahama as his bodyguard.

“The soldiers in question were assigned as part of the security details at the Flagstaff House.”

It indicated that “appropriate action has since been taken to address the situation”.
