Black Stars legend George Alhassan has claimed to be Ghanas greatest ever footballer.

Alhassan, a prolific striker in his hey days nicknamed 'Jairzinho' (after the great Brazilian striker who scored in every game he featured in the 1970 World Cup) won two Africa Cup of Nations titles with Ghana in 1978 and 1982, emerging as the top scorer in the latter.

"I am undoubtedly Ghana’s best player of all time. I’m giving myself this accolade based on what I’ve achieved as a footballer,'' the 62-year-old boasted in an interview on Accra-based Happy FM on Wednesday

"I have won the AFCON twice and I was top scorer for the 1982 edition. I have also won the top scorer in Ghana twice so when all these laurels are put together, I stand tall as Ghana’s best player of all time.”

Alhassan made his name at Great Olympics, where he won the Ghana Premier League's top scorer award twice in 1977 and 1985. He also played professionally in Gabon, featuring for FC 105.
