A group known as the Free Gregory Afoko Movement has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu to arrest the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu.
Their call comes in the wake of revelations made by Bugri Naabu over the death of the late Upper East regional chairman of the NPP, Adams Mahama.

According Bugri Naabu, the Gender Minister Otiko Afisa Djaba was involved in the killing of Adams Mahama.
He alleged that two ministers in government are involved in the plot that led to the death of Mahama including Mr. Rockson Bukari, the Upper East Regional Minister.

But the Free Gregory Afoko Movement said the IGP must immediately arrest Bugri Naabu to help in investigations surrounding the gruesome murder of Adams Mahama.
The group in a statement jointly signed by Bright Abakosem National Coordinator and Umar Abdul Shakour Secretary and copied to Pulse.com.gh said "the arrest and incarceration of Mr. Gregory Afoko was unfortunate and in a bad taste. Recent revelations by Mr. Bugri Naabu confirms our long-held belief that Mr. Gregory Afoko is innocent."

It added that "It is against the backdrop of these revelations by no mean a person than the Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling party that we call on the President of the Republic and the IGP to arrest Mr. Bugri Naabu for further information to help put the murder of Adams Mahama to rest."
Death of Adams Mahama
Adams Mahama died in the hospital following an acid attack on May 20, 2015.
He had been fighting for his life in the hospital after two assailants stopped his car whilst he was about entering his house midnight on Wednesday and poured the corrosive substance on his face and entire body.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Gregory Afoko, brother of the suspended national chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko.
Gregory Afoko is currently standing trial for the murder of Adams Mahama after preliminary investigations linked him to the crime.
