SSNIT is a corrupt institution – Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Agyepong said the pension trustee is a corrupt institution thus this latest exposé is a tip of the iceberg.

The outspoken Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has named the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) as a corrupt institution in the country.

He said the pension trustee is a corrupt institution thus this latest exposé is a tip of the iceberg.

His comment comes at the back of a controversial Operation Business Suit (OBS)software procured by SSNIT at a cost of $72million. He said the recent scandal revelation is not shocking.

"I already knew SSNIT is a corrupt institution because evidences to support their corrupt acts are so clear. I always get people insulting me and threatening me because I try hard to bring their corrupt acts to being but today I feel vindicated because it’s clear now that SSNIT is corrupt with some corrupt officials who needs to be dealt with," he said on Adom TV.

The controversial OBS software procured by SSNIT, cost $72million and not $66 million as widely publicized in the media.

This was revealed by the Director-General of the SSNIT, Dr. John Ofori Tenkorang.

He said SSNIT was incurring more cost over the software because it intermittently experienced challenges that required technicians to rectify.

The state pensions trust is currently being investigated by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for spending $72 million on procuring and installing software and other hardware systems.

However, the head of SSNIT’s Management Information Systems, Dr Caleb Afaglo has been interdicted for presenting forged documents for the job.

The initial investigation has indicated that Dr Afaglo does not have a doctorate, a masters’ degree or a first degree as he claimed.
