The Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong has revealed that the Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch, Ben Ephson stopped some miscreants from murdering him some years ago.

Agyapong narrated on Accra-based Asempa FM that an informant revealed the plan of some miscreants to get rid of him to Ben Ephson. The informant was telling him (Ephson) to publish it as a story.

Instead, Ephson reported the plot to the then Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Alhassan, who arranged security for Mr. Agyapong.

Ben Ephson, confirmed the narration saying: “This account is true.”

"Through our journalistic work, we get a lot of information from informants. One of them approached me and told me that some persons have plotted to assassinate Ken, and, so, I should do a story like that but I decided not to do that story. Instead, I informed the then-IGP, Mohammed Alhassan, about it. I did not even tell Kennedy himself about the issue because I knew how he was going to react to such news. So I handed over the informant to the IGP and left it there."

“The matter later went to court and the police wanted to take credit for foiling such an assassination, but the informant told the court it wasn’t the police but that I foiled it."

“So to cut the story short, yes some people wanted to assassinate Kennedy Agyapong a few years ago.”
