We will win the Supreme Court case – PPP

The election management body has resorted to the Supreme Court to seek review of the High court ruling.

The Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) has expressed optimism that the Supreme Court will rule in their favour in the appeal filed by the Electoral Commission to challenge the High Court ruling asking it to allow the party to correct the anomalies on their presidential nomination form.

Speaking to pulse.com.gh the Policy Adviser of the PPP, Kofi Asamoah Siaw said they believe the Supreme Court will support the ruling by the High Court.

“Of course this is a no case. The High Court determined it so obviously the Supreme Court approve the decision of the High Court.”

“The Electoral Commission is just embarking on an exercise in futility,” he added.

But a statement signed by the Head of Communications at the EC, Eric Dzakpasu, and copied to Pulse.com.gh said: “Having carefully studied the contents of the judgment, we respectfully disagree with the High Court judge’s decision on several essential legal and public policy grounds.”

“The Commission is further of the view that falsified signatures on nomination forms constitute a matter for criminal investigation and are not mere anomalies or clerical errors, which should be pointed out to candidates for corrections to be effected.”
