The Flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, has said that his party will not form a coalition with any of the four political parties contesting in the presidential race in December 2016.

In a Facebook post on his page, Dr Nduom said the PPP is independent and therefore will not join forces with any of the political parties ahead of the election.

“Our Party is independent and is not joining any other political party for this election. I will be there, to campaign and support our Parliamentary Candidates to win. And win we must.”

He revealed that all the parliamentary aspirants of his party have been cleared to contest the elections.

“Our Parliamentary Candidates have been cleared by the Electoral Commission to contest the December 7, 2016, elections.”

Dr Nduom who served in the erstwhile NPP because of a coalition arrangement the party he then belonged to (CPP) had with the Kufuor government said that he was hopeful the parliamentary candidates of the party will win enough seats in the elections.

“I know that PPP Parliamentary Candidates are winning seats in all ten regions. They have worked hard and won support in their communities. Ghana needs them in Parliament to lead in bringing about the changes to the 1992 Constitution that will make our country Great and Strong.”

Dr Nduom is part of the 13 disqualified presidential aspirants from various political parties by the EC for anomalies in their nomination forms. Dr Nduom has vowed to challenge the EC’s position in court after a meeting with the EC Chairperson yielded no results in his favour.

Meanwhile, nominations of President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nana Akufo-Addo of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP),  Ivor Greenstreet of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and Jacob Osei Yeboah – an independent aspirant have been accepted by the EC.
