Tension in Kwahu-Abene following enstoolment of Prof. Akosa as chief

Tension is mounting in Kwahu-Abene following the enstoolment of Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa as the new chief of the area.

There is heavy police deployment in the area to ensure peace as rival factions to the stool question his suitability and the manner he was enstooled.

Prof Akosa is a renowned pathologist and a former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service as well as a leading figure of the Convention People’s Party.

Those contesting his enstoolment include the Chief of Abetifi and Acting Paramount chief of Kwahuman, Nana Asiedu Agyemang III.

He has asked his fellow chiefs to back his stance.

The Eastern Regional Minister Eric Kwakye Darfour has confirmed the deployment of police personnel to the trouble spot.

According to him, he was informed that the enstoolment was done on the blindside of the real kingmakers.

At a press conference on Friday, Nana Asiedu Agyemang III declared war and asked all chiefs within the traditional area to rise up and defend the Kwahu stool.

The chiefs and elders slaughtered a white sheep and poured libation to their  gods demonstrating their resentfulness .
