Residents of Odweanoma, a community in the Eastern Region are currently without electricity and telecommunication network following the activities of an illegal chainsaw operator in the area.

He reportedly pulled down electricity poles in the course of his activities disrupting power and telecom service supply to the people living in that catchment area. The situation has also affected radio transmission in the area leaving the residents temporarily cut off.
The illegal chainsaw operator has absconded after realizing the extent of damaged he had caused and sensing danger.

However, Eastern regional Public Relation Officer of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Mary Eshun has assured residents that the ECG staff are seriously working around the clock to restore power to community.
She explained that “an illegal chainsaw operator in the course of his activity brought down about seven poles of our network and as result, those at Odweanoma were affected and our engineers are working to restore power to the community”.
