He runs two clinics in the Northern region and provides treatment not only to persons with mental illness but also HIV/AIDS, Hernias, and other physical disabilities.

After treatment, many find happiness in staying at the facility than going back home or the streets.

In May, Dr Abdulai was diagnosed with stage-4 thyroid cancer which is reportedly becoming aggressive.

Reports indicate that he was in dire need of radiation therapy, which is not offered in Tamale in the Northern region where he lives.

But a post from the Minister of Health on Wednesday indicated that “the President directed the Ghana Air Force to evacuate Dr Abdulai to Accra three days ago, so he can receive optimal care.”

“He was flown to Accra yesterday and is currently receiving the care he needs. In my humble opinion, even though the President has intervened, the fund-raising efforts are in the right direction, and proceeds will surely be appreciated by Dr Abdulai,” the Minister added.
