A 40-year-old woman has poisoned her two daughters to death at Essikado in the Western Region.

The woman, whose name was only given as Naana, believed to be mentally challenged is suspected to have laced a pesticide with food and fed the two children with it on Sunday.

Neighbours say the woman has separated from her husband who is the father of the deceased children.

Her estranged husband is a tutor at Sekondi Senior High School (Sekco).

The Court had ordered the father to take custody of the children on Sunday, November 2 but the neighbours found the lifeless bodies of the children in their room with the mother sitting beside them unconcerned.

They subsequently raised an alarm which attracted some people within the vicinity to the scene.

The mother has since been arrested whilst the bodies of the children , Maame Serwaa 10, and Maame Fulba 8, have been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta Hospital morgue for autopsy.
