Ghana international Andre Ayew has backed his Swansea City side to be mentally strong ahead of their English Premier League game against Watford.
The Ghanaian and his side have had an abysmal run of form and are currently in the relegation zone of the Premier League log.
Swansea City’s last game was a defeat against Sunderland at home. The Wales club saw right-back Kyle Naughton get sent off, a decision which was later overturned by the Football Association.
Speaking ahead of the Wales game, Andre Ayew told the club’s official website:
“The decisions made in that game were very disappointing, but now that game is gone.
“We have moved on from that – now it’s all about preparing for Watford, and we need to be mentally tough. We have the characters within the squad to ensure that everyone is fresh in the mind and ready for the next challenge.
“It is a difficult situation for us because the club has not been in this position in the Premier League, and a lot of the players are new to it.
“But the strength and qualities within that changing room are very important to helping us move in the right direction.”
The Black Stars vice-captain who scored in the defeat against Sunderland is a transfer target for a host of English Premier League clubs including champions Chelsea. Sunderland made a transfer bid for the former Olympique Marseille man which was rejected by Swansea City over the weekend.
