He stated this when delivering the Special Guest of Honour speech during the 61st Independence Anniversary Parade in Accra.
He congratulated Nana Addo and parliament for passing the Special Prosecutor Bill to fight corruption.

He said "I congratulate you on your efforts to fight corruption which has eaten into the public fibre…Your Excellency I can assure you that you have a good partner in me in tackling endemic corruption."
He also lauded Nana Addo for brokering peace in neighbouring Togo.

"Permit me to put on record Ghana’s untiring effort in brokering peace in Togo by bringing all the warring factions to the negotiating table," he added.
He has appealed to the political parties to ensure peace in Togo.
Buhari noted: "I am appealing to all the opposition parties in Togo to please come together to resolve their differences so that Togo will move forward. It’s the same thing I wish Nigeria and Ghana to continue to provide the impetus in realising the objectives and ideals of the founding fathers of the Economic Community of West African States to ensure security, peace and development of our region."

According to him, all cases of corruption and misappropriation of public funds will be independently and thoroughly investigated for the law to take its course.
