A stalwart of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Mohammed Sani has launched a scathing attack on former President Jerry John Rawlings saying he is no more relevant.

He said the respect the party used to accord Rawlings is no more indicating that it was wrong for him to attack the integrity of former President John Mahama and members of the party.

He said the party must discipline Rawlings and former Attorney General Martin Amidu.

Mohammed Sani's comment comes at the back of former deputy chief of staff, Dr Valerie Sawyerr, who has castigated Rawlings, for labelling fellow former presidents, Kufuor and Mahama as corrupt.

She began by wondering whether Rawlings’ tenure was free of corrupt practices. She went on to wonder when that of the current president passes the litmus test of corruption.

Corruption and rig allegations

Rawlings speaking at the 80th Ada Asafotufiami Festival over the weekend said his constant criticism of corruption in the NDC is not because he hates the party.

According to him, he  it.

Meanwhile, Martin Amidu in his latest epistle also accused Mahama in the appointment of Charlotte Osei to rig the 2016 elections.

Response to Amidu, Rawlings

But Alhaji Mohammed Sani speaking on the development in the party in an interview on Accra FM said "What these two people are doing is dragging the party's image into the mud. They have violated the party’s constitution and so should be sanctioned by the party leadership.

"But as I said time without number during the 2016 elections, she was appointed by a corrupt Government precisely because of her incompetence that made her susceptible for use for an election rigging agenda. Her appointing Government failed in the rigging agenda despite all the attempts by the Commission to narrow the election to a two-party race to facilitate easy rigging for the incumbent adding that "She has, either on her own or at the instance of her mentor, been trying to recycle herself as a neutral Electoral Commissioner after her Church Papa mediated her peaceful announcement of the election results."
