Police arrest 18 suspected prostitutes at New Juabeng

The ladies, numbering up to 18, were arrested within the New Juabeng Municipality on Thursday dawn by a Police patrol team.

Explaining how arrests were made, Public Relations Officer of the Regional Police Command, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh told Starr News that the ladies were spotted in the Municipality at around 1:30 AM prostituting.

According to him, a Police team led by DSP Sewornu effected their arrest after they were found to be “soliciting or importuning for sex at various vantage points within the Municipality”.

He further revealed that all the suspects are between the ages of 20 and 36, adding that all 18 ladies will soon be processed before court.

Residents in the New Juabeng Municipality have, in recent times, bitterly complained about the increasing number of commercial sex workers in the locality.

According to them, it has become a worrying trend that young girls in the locality drop out of school to engage in sex trade.

The situation has led to the Police being on red alert to arrest anyone found prostituting in the Municipality.
