The Denkyira Traditional Council has performed rituals to purify the community and placate the gods following the lynching of a Captain of the Ghana Armed Forces by some of the town folks.

The chiefs, clad in funeral clothes also sacrificed a lamb at the spot where the deceased soldier was murdered.

The purification rights are meant to ward off any curse the soldier’s death might bring to the area.

“Although it happened at Denkyira-Obuasi, it happened on Denkyira land and has dragged the name of the town in the mud. So we are here to cleanse the town and the whole of Dekyira so that peace will prevail and life will go back to normal.”
