A 26-year-old trained psychologist, Dmitry Grachyova has been remanded in custody until February next year when he may be sentenced to a 15-year jail term after he
The accused person has admitted to taking his 25-year-old wife, Margarita Grachyova to the forest where he cut off her hands with an axe, after crushing the fingers with the handle of the axe.

The victim, Margarita Grachyova from Russia has alleged that her husband’s action was as a result of a text message she had received from a male friend.
Reports suggest that Margarita had filed for divorce due to incessant violence she suffered at the hands of her husband. Further reports say she had severally called the police into their home following hostilities by Dmitry.
At one point, he allegedly took her to the forest and threatened her with a knife to rescind her decision to divorce him.
When Dmitry was asked at his first appearance in court whether he had repented of the “stupid thing”, he said “Yes, I do,” admitting that “Stupid thing is a soft way to say it.”
Before the barbaric act, the accused person had reportedly told his colleagues at work that “You will soon hear about me.” He latter sent a message to his mother and sister that “Please excuse me. I can't live like this any longer, when I am cheated.”

The victim’s mother believes that her son-in-law’s act was simply as a result of mistrust, saying “Once he even took her to be tested by a lie detector”. Where Margarita sufficiently proved her innocence.
Doctors have reportedly sewn one of the hands with the hope that it will become useful again, but the other one, according to reports was damaged almost beyond repair.
Margarita, mother of two said “I filed for divorce, then he saw my text exchange with a (male) colleague” and got peeved.
