The family of a 16-year-old final year student of Achimota Senior High School who died at a friend’s house has said that their patience is being tested at the continuing delay of the case in court.

The deceased, Lily Dzigbordi Asigbetse, was said to have left home to go pay her school fees at the bank but ended up at her male friend’s house.

Her 17-year-old colleague allegedly shot her with his father’s single barrel gun.

The prosecution said one Madam Gifty Billy, a neighbour, heard the gunshot and went to the scene. But she only found the victim lying in a pool of blood.

The prosecution said Gifty rushed the victim to the Port Clinic in Tema.

However, due to the condition of the victim, she was transferred to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, where she died on admission.

The 17-year old accused is currently facing a charge of murder.

A three-member panel in April heard the evidence of a medical officer of the Tema Port Clinic in camera.

The case has since gone through months of adjournments and cross-examinations, and the family of the deceased are not happy about it.

Peggy Ama Donkor, a member of the bereaved family, is hoping that justice will soon be served.

She wrote on her Facebook Timeline: “Six months ago you were killed in cold blood. We were told your killer was a minor, all this while he has been living with his parents, while other minors are at the borstal institute. Indeed the law is an ass. Its been six months in and out of court. He is 18 years now. Madam A-G its been six months of adjournment/cross examination. Six months of sleeplessness. We know that now that you have taken up the case, justice indeed will be served. Stilljustice4lily.
